Security and Defence Analyst Professor Michael Clarke discusses US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken's meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister and China's President Xi Jingping over concerns that China is powering Russia's war.

China is not supplying weapons to Russia however they supply Russia with components needed for missiles and high-tech weapons. They also facilitate the supply of weapons from North Korea to Russian ports.

According to British newspapers, companies in the UK are still buying oil and gas from Russia due to loopholes. So, are they also powering Russia? Moral of the your own house in order first!

Chinese are not dumb to ignore Russia knowing that when Russia falls they are next.

So the U.S. can be the only country to send weapons to other countries?

I don't think China is frightened of anything. This is just a misguided sense of superiority. A Western colonial mindset, but nothing last forever. Peace and love to all peoples.

Supplying weapons to Taiwan to wage war with the Mainland is also a case in point that America is powering Taiwan.

China's components are also in the US weapons that are supplied to Ukraine, such as rear earth elements. That's the normal trade. China trades with Russia just as with the US.

So what about the ATACMs, the Bradley’s, the Storm Shadows, the Challengers, the Scorpions, the Leopards?

China's trade with Europe at $800 billion is a balanced trade i.e. China sells as much to Europe as Europe sells to China. Any trade sanctions will hurt both equally. China no longer trades with the US directly, its US trade ($600 billion) is falling. China's trade with Asean and the Middle East is $1.5 trillion; its trade with Russia is $250 billion; with Taiwan $270 billion ; with HK $300 billion; with Japan & Korea $800 billion; with S. America $300 billion; with Africa $280 billion.
The US has little trade leverage over China, those days are gone.
