What is the U.S. willing, and not willing to do, to help Ukraine? On Feb. 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a ‘special military operation’ in parts of Ukraine. In the weeks that have followed, Russia has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. As the war has progressed, the role of the United States in helping Ukraine has come into focus. The U.S. is walking a fine line between helping Ukraine and enacting punitive measures on Russia, while avoiding a larger conflict. The PBS NewsHour’s Nick Schifrin and Lisa Desjardin break down how the U.S. is working to accomplish this, what actions are too far, and how this approach could change.
